Self-Employed Persons Program is an immigration stream aimed at individuals who have the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada.  Self-Employed Persons Program is a point-based system with the pass mark minimum of 35 out of a total 100 points in the following six selection factors:​​

1. Age (maximum 10 points)
   • Points are awarded to a candidate who is between 17 and 53 years of age
2. Education (maximum 10 points)
3. Language Proficiency in English or French (maximum 24 points)
4. Business experience (maximum 35 points)
5. Adaptability (maximum 6 points)​​

Must have 2 years relevant experience in the 5 years before applying:

1. Cultural activities
   • 2 one-year periods of experience in self-employment in cultural activities​
     OR
   • 2 one-year periods of experience in participation at a world-class level in cultural  activities
     OR
   • Combination of a 2 one-year period of the above activities 
2. Athletics
   • 2 one-year periods of experience in self-employment in athletics
     OR
   • 2 one-year periods of experience in participation at a world-class level in athletics
     OR
   • Combination of a 2 one-year period of the above activities
